Trust Initial Plan for Data Protection Compliance (for Multi Academy Trusts)

We launched our Schools Best Practice area at the beginning of this term which includes specific guides and support for schools.  There is also a specific area for Trusts and the Central Team.  The Trusts Central Team section is a specific area for additional requirements and guidance for the central team of a trust and should be used in conjunction with the other tabs in the best practice area.  
The data protection lead for the trust would meet with their Data Protection Education schools consultant in addition to the schools meeting with us.  While the trust team member may be our contact for strategy and policies (if they have been centralised) the school team provide day to day admin tasks such as adding/removing staff from the Knowledge Bank and assigning training.

The best practice area also includes a Trust Initial Plan Check List which includes:
  • Leadership and Oversight
  • Policies and Procedures
  • Training and Awareness
  • Transparency
  • Breach Response
  • Risks and DPIAs
  • Contracts and Data Sharing
  • Controller-Processor Contract Requirement Details
  • Records Management
This is all contained in an online checklist which is part of the Data Protection Education portal, the Knowledge Bank, and is the beginning or working towards the ICO Accountability Framework.
